Cauliflower – the trend vegetable in autumn

Cauliflower is in season from August to November. Reason enough to take a closer look at the healthy cabbage. Cauliflower tastes good baked, boiled or in soups – thanks to its 23 calories per 100 grams, the white cabbage is also popular in low-carb cuisine.

Cauliflower can be found in local supermarkets, but can also be planted in your own garden. The autumn trend vegetables are so healthy.

Cauliflower – healthy and low in calories

Small but powerful: cauliflower consists of around 90 percent water, but still provides important vitamins and  nutrients . Due to its high fiber content, it is the ideal filler with a healthy effect:

  • Immune booster:  Cauliflower contains a high proportion of  vitamin C , which supports the immune system, protects cells and can promote wound healing.
  • Rich in  folic acid A lack of the B vitamin has a negative effect on the cells. These then tend to divide and renew faster. This can lead to changes in the mucous membranes in the mouth and gastrointestinal tract.
  • Nutrient supplier:  Cauliflower provides important nutrients such as  potassium , calcium and magnesium. Among other things, these can promote the growth of nerves, muscles and cells and protect the heart.
  • Stomach friend:  In contrast to other types of cabbage, cauliflower is well tolerated and can be eaten without any problems.
  • Reduces the risk of cancer:  Mustard oils (glucosinolates) not only provide the typical cabbage taste, they also have a positive effect on health. Mustard oils have an antioxidant effect. They bind free radicals that damage cells and can thus reduce the risk of cancer.

Tip: Harvest the cauliflower fresh and only buy it when you need it. Fresh cauliflower can be stored in the refrigerator for two to three days. Washed and cut up, you can also simply freeze cauliflower.
