Colors and their effect

Every color has a different effect on our psyche and our body, because every color has a typical wavelength and energy that is transferred to our body. For example, blue light has a cooling and calming effect, while red light has a warming and stimulating effect.

Properties of the most popular colors

Color therapy, in which the positive effect of colors using baths, color acupuncture, radiation and also irradiated  food  and drinks, is becoming increasingly popular. But everyone can also create a positive atmosphere at home by adapting the colors of their clothing, furniture and lighting to the mood.

We have summarized the properties of the most well-known colors for you – general characteristics and their importance in fashion and for interior design:

Rot

is the color of fire, of love and passion, but also of anger. It attracts attention and stands for vitality and energy, love and passion. Red can activate, warm, but also heat. It stimulates circulation,  metabolism  and the  immune system  . Red clothing stands for self-confidence, in a red dress you look sexy and immediately attract attention.

In rooms, red should only be used as a stimulus, because too much red makes you restless. Red stimulates the appetite and makes you want to have sex.

Orange

is the symbol color for optimism and joie de vivre. Orange  is a mood enhancer and stands for open-mindedness, sociability and self-confidence. But it can also convey light-heartedness and obtrusiveness. Orange helps with abdominal and abdominal discomfort and promotes kidney function.

Dresses in orange increase attraction. In orange-colored rooms, sociability is encouraged and cosiness is radiated. Orange is the ideal color for rooms with little natural light, such as kitchens or dining rooms.

Gelb

is the color of the sun. Representing light, optimism and joy, yellow alleviates  anxiety  and  depression . Since yellow colors have a detoxifying effect, they are used for  rheumatism , liver disorders and weakened immune systems.

Clear yellow also represents knowledge, reason and logic. Dirty yellow tones tend to represent negative qualities such as selfishness, stinginess and envy. A yellow outfit radiates joie de vivre and self-confidence.

Yellow makes small rooms appear larger. Yellow is the ideal color for children’s rooms and conference rooms because it promotes concentration and creativity, as well as being a stimulus to conversation.

Green

is the color of nature. It calms, harmonizes and stands for security and hope. In color therapy, green is used for heart diseases. Grief, anger and lovesickness can also be alleviated by green tones.

However, green can also convey feelings such as envy, indifference and  tiredness  . A person dressed in green appears generous and inspires confidence.

In rooms, green ensures peace, security and creativity and is therefore ideal in work rooms – even if it “only” appears in the form of plants.

cyan/turquoise

is a cool, fresh color. Turquoise conveys mental openness and freedom, but can also appear distant. Turquoise is used for infections and  allergies  of all kinds and protects the immune system. An outfit in turquoise is always something special and looks extravagant. Turquoise rooms appear cool but personal.

Blau

The color of the sky stands for calm, trust and longing, but it can also appear melancholic or careless. Blue helps with  sleep disorders  and  inflammation . It promotes language skills and clear thinking. Anyone who wears blue knows what they want, but often comes across as overcooled.

Small rooms appear larger when painted blue. It is often used in rooms intended for relaxation, especially in bedrooms.

purple/purple

stands for dignity, mysticism and protection. The color of inspiration and art is extravagant and has a pain-relieving, cleansing and detoxifying effect. Purple can appear proud and arrogant, but it also supports concentration and self-confidence. Purple clothing has a festive, noble and mysterious effect.

Purple has a calming effect in living rooms, but is more suitable for reception rooms. Since it curbs appetite and sexual desire, violet should only be used to a limited extent in dining rooms and bedrooms.

Magenta/ Pink and Pink

are soft colors that cause joy in nature as flowers. They embody idealism, order, and compassion, but also have a touch of snobbery and dominance. Magenta is a protective color and is used as “first aid” for physical and mental shock. It gives inner freedom and conveys security.

Pink clothes are expressive, while pink clothes are innocent. According to experts, pink is the most suitable color for bedrooms, as it soothes and reduces aggression.

White

is a symbol of purity, clarity and innocence. The color of ice and snow is also a sign of aloofness. White is a magical color that can be substituted for any other color because its light spectrum contains almost all colors. In our cultural circles there is actually no negative attribution to white, but in China white is the color of mourning and death.

Dressed all in white, you look elegant, but you are also quickly seen as unapproachable. White is the ideal combination color in rooms. It neutralizes, brightens and invigorates.

Grau

is the color of complete neutrality and restraint. It is unobtrusive and is also associated with boredom, insecurity and fear of life. Gray business suits put aside individuality and appear sober. In rooms, gray should only be used as a combination color.

Schwarz

is the color of darkness. It expresses sadness, inscrutability and mystery, but it is also an expression of dignity and respect and can have a particularly solemn character. Black also has a noble and solemn effect in fashion. It conveys seriousness and generates respect. One should refrain from black walls, as they appear gloomy and heavy.

Braun

is the calm earth color. It conveys security and material security. In color therapy, brown is used for balance disorders. Brown is also considered a fashionable business colour. Brown rooms have a rustic, calming and balancing effect. Earth tones such as ocher or sienna can be used in almost any room.

Gold

is often associated with the sun and represents power and wealth. Gold gives strength and inspiration. It helps against fear, insecurity and indifference. Gold is the color of big anniversaries (golden wedding). It is one of the quiet virtues that stand the test of time: loyalty and friendship, truth and helpfulness.

Silber

has a cleansing and harmonizing effect. It promotes communicative skills but is said to promote talkativeness and untruths in large “amounts”. Silver is a color of politeness and stands for cleverness, independence, security and punctuality. The shine of the silver does not displace, it reflects other colors unadulterated, the silver itself recedes into the background. Silver is a color of the modern, unconventional, original.
