Corona measures: This is how it will continue this winter
New corona rules come into force for the vaccinated and unvaccinated. However, this is a minimum, the federal states can adapt the measures and proceed more strictly:
- 2G rules: Â Access to facilities and events in the areas of culture and leisure (cinema, theater, gastronomy) is only permitted to vaccinated and recovered people throughout Germany, regardless of the seven-day incidence. This also applies to retail, access must be checked by the shops. In addition, a daily updated test can be requested (2G-Plus).
- Contact restrictions for the unvaccinated:Â Meetings in public and private spaces with vaccinated and recovered people are limited to the unvaccinated in their own household and a maximum of two people from another household. Married couples and life partners from non-marital partnerships count as one household, even if they do not live together. Children under the age of 14 are excluded from the restrictions.
- Schools: Â Masks are compulsory in all grade levels.
- Major events:  All major events in the fields of sport and culture or similar should be limited. Indoor and outdoor spaces may not exceed 30 to 50 percent of the possible number of visitors. Indoors, the upper limit of 5,000 people comes into effect. A maximum of 15,000 people should take part outdoors – this also applies in football stadiums. If the number of infections is particularly high, ghost games and game cancellations are possible. A mask requirement and the 2G rule apply at all events.
- Clubs and discos:  If the incidence is more than 350, indoor clubs and discos will be closed. In addition, from this value, private celebrations should only be allowed to take place indoors with 50 people – the limit for outdoor gatherings is 200 people. 2G also applies here.
- New Year’s Eve and New Year: Â On these days, there is a nationwide ban on gatherings and gatherings in public places. In addition, the sale of firecrackers and fireworks should be prohibited. There is also a ban on fireworks in crowded places.
The federal and state governments want to increase vaccination rates: compulsory vaccination possible from 2022
In addition to the tightened measures, a clear goal of the vaccination campaign was defined: A total of up to 30 million first, second and booster vaccinations are to be administered this year. For this purpose, pharmacists, dentists and nursing staff can vaccinate at short notice.
In addition, the vaccination status should be extended to the booster vaccination, since the vaccination protection decreases after a certain period of time – an exact period of time is still to be defined.
The Ethics Council is to discuss the possible introduction of compulsory vaccination in February 2022.
