Health-conscious behavior – What is really good for us?

Health-conscious behavior should be rewarded in the future. Anyone who regularly takes part in early detection examinations or preventive measures can in future receive a financial bonus from their health insurance company. So the question is: What actually is “health-conscious behavior”? The fact is, health-conscious behavior has to be trained. In many cases, a lack of information and ignorance, but often also the notorious inner “bastard” are the reasons for unhealthy behavior.

  • Overweight : Overweight children often grow into overweight adults. Being overweight not only means that at some point your pants will no longer fit; Obesity means an increased risk z. B.  diabetes  high blood pressureheart attack  or  stroke  . The foundation stone for health development or maldevelopment is already laid in childhood. For this reason, children and young people must be encouraged to behave in a health-conscious manner as early as possible.
  • Eating is not only the source of our physical energy, but also decisive for the quality of life and thus also for a good mood. Therefore, we should learn to enjoy food again:
    • Variety in nutrition is the be-all and end-all.
    • Make food a priority again. Set the table nicely and arrange the food decoratively on your plate.
    • Chew every bite and feel the  taste  of the food. Take your time, because the hunger center in our brain only reports “full” after about 20 minutes.
    • It is very important to drink a lot (at least 2 liters per day: water,  herbal tea  and diluted fruit juices).

    movement

    Movement is a vital human need. The ability to move harmoniously, to be aware of your body and to feel healthy is an elementary experience. Movement means feeling good, having fun and enjoying physical activity, discovering the abilities of your own body and experiencing positive sensations and feelings in the process. Movement together with others means learning something about yourself, practicing and doing something together, being there and belonging. Whether it’s cycling, swimming, gymnastics, ball games or just hiking: if you keep fit, you strengthen your body – also against risks such as cancer. Movement strengthens and regulates the function of all organs: muscles, heart, lungs, digestive system and much more.

    Sleep

    Humans need an average of eight hours of sleep – some more, others less. That means we spend about a third of our lives asleep – three to four times as long in bed as at work. And this time is the most important of all for our regeneration. Adequate sleep, a healthy sleeping climate and a good bed play a key role in the quality of sleep so that you can be fit and active again the next day.

    Relax and reflect

    Experiencing positive stress is good for us. Negative stress, on the other hand, should be limited in time. Stress becomes dangerous when it brings us to the limit of exhaustion, or when it becomes permanent, because permanent stress is unhealthy. You don’t sleep enough, you’re more susceptible to colds, you eat irregularly and you don’t feel like exercising. Whether we experience an event as “stressful” in a negative sense is often determined by our own personal assessment of the event.

    What can help?

    If you want peace and quiet, you can only find it within yourself. Anyone who consciously establishes contact with their body begins to practice everyday mindfulness. If we learn to consciously communicate with our body and to understand it, the body can regain its inner balance.

    • Laughter is not only good for our psyche, but also physically. Anyone who laughs for a minute feels as refreshed as if he or she had completed a relaxation training course for three quarters of an hour. Laughter researchers found that out.
    • Paracelsus said: “It’s the amount that makes the poison”. That’s how it is with all things in life, too much is always harmful!

Living healthy is fun!

Increasing pressure, lack of exercise, poor diet make you ill. Health-conscious behavior, on the other hand, benefits everyone – young and old.  It is the awareness and correct action towards one’s own precious health. If we are mentally and physically healthy, then there is an inner balance in our body. So let’s treat ourselves to what’s good for us!
