Kamasutra: the best positions for gay couples

At over 2,000 years old, the  Kama Sutra is one of the oldest erotic manuals in the world. It consists of seven books in total. Even if the positions described therein are designed for sexual intercourse between men and women, many of the typical positions from the Kama Sutra can be used just as well for same-sex sex between men. The positions described therein are also easier to implement than is often assumed.

Written by Vatsyayana Mallanaga and other authors almost 2,000 years ago in north-eastern India, the Kama Sutra is subject to slight variations, making it as relevant as ever. On the following pages we will show you very different positions for men – from slight variations of the classics to positions for those who are physically active. In any case, it is important to proceed sensitively and, if in doubt, to use sufficient lubricant to avoid injuries to the anus.

In the “dog” or the “doggy position” one of the two partners goes on all fours. The other man positions himself on his knees behind him and can penetrate so relaxed. The position allows good control over angle and speed.

In this variation of the classic missionary position, one of the two men lies on his back. His active partner kneels in front of him and puts his opponent’s legs on his shoulders. Then he bends slightly forward for careful anal penetration.

In the “Inverted Rider” sex position, one of the two men lies on his back and bends his legs. The other sits on his partner’s thigh with his back to him, allowing him to penetrate.

More stability is provided when the upper man leans against his partner’s feet and shifts as much weight as possible to his legs. If both grab each other’s wrists, this simplifies the position even more.

The basic position of this sex position is the candle. The passive partner lies on their back and stretches their legs at a 90-degree angle in the air. From this position he bends his legs and pulls them slightly towards his chest. The active partner kneels in front of him and gently grasps the feet of his partner.

From this position, he pulls the passive partner up until his bottom is level with his loins. The passive partner grasps the thighs of the other person with their hands and can thus stabilize themselves.

In this classic position, the active partner lies on their back. The passive sits down with a view of the partner at loin height and supports himself with his knees. The advantage of this position is that both partners can control the speed and intensity of the sex.

In this variant of the spoon position, both partners lie close together, stomach to back. The active partner can penetrate the passive partner from behind, while at the same time pampering him with his hands. This position offers a special intimacy due to its close physical proximity.

Some fitness is required for the “joyful ascent”   : The active man grasps his passive partner from behind under the thighs while standing and lifts him at the height of his loins. The pose is made a little easier when the passive partner wraps their arms around the neck of the active part.

Attention:  In this position, the necessary physical strength should be available so that injuries do not occur. Alternatively, the carried partner can also support themselves lightly with their feet on a surface, such as a chair.

At the “ceasefire,” one of the two men is lying on his side. He takes over the active part. The passive partner lies on their back and slides their buttocks up to the height of the active partner’s loins. Then he places his legs at an almost right angle on the hips of his opponent.

In this sex position, the passive part stands on a chair or other raised and stable surface. Then he bends slightly forward and supports his forearms on his thighs. The active part can enter from behind while standing.

Important:  The base should be chosen according to the difference in size and should be as stable as possible. If in doubt, the passive partner should support himself on the wall or on a table. This position should be changed if it becomes too strenuous for the passive partner.

With the “wheelbarrow” the passive part goes into the quadruped position. The active man grabs his partner by the ankles and lifts him to the level of his loins. The passive partner bends their legs and helps their partner by resting their thighs on their thighs. To make the position more comfortable for the passive part, he can put a pillow or blanket under his arms.

It is important to keep the balance here. The passive man lies on his back and bends his legs so that his bottom is tilted slightly upwards. The active partner sits on top of him and bends his knees slightly. If both hold hands, this gives stability.

When bowing, the active partner stands behind the passive partner. Then he grabs it by the forearms. The passive partner leans forward and slowly and easily lets himself fall forward a little while the active partner holds him.

The active partner lies on their back, the passive partner lies on top of them in the same position, facing the ceiling. This position allows for extra control over the pace and intensity of sex.

The passive partner lies comfortably on their back and bends their legs. The active partner kneels in front of him and rests his partner’s pelvis slightly elevated on his thighs before gently penetrating him.

With the “package”, both partners form an (almost) round ball. The active partner sits with their legs slightly bent and takes the passive partner on their lap. This has turned its back on the active partner. The active partner can now gently penetrate the passive partner. He then grabs his feet with his hands and moves very slightly rocking back and forth.

In this sex position, the passive partner kneels on a step and supports himself with his hands and outstretched arms on a higher step. The active man kneels behind him until he can penetrate his partner.

Important:  This position should not be performed if you have knee problems. A pillow under the knees can increase comfort for the passive part.

In this sex position, the passive partner lies upside down. To do this, the active partner first sits on the bed with their face to the edge of the bed. The passive partner sits facing him on his lap. He then wraps his legs around the active partner’s pelvis and leans back as far as possible so that his head hangs slightly over the edge of the bed.

Important:  This position is a bit more strenuous for the passive partner, so if in doubt, the position should not be maintained for too long.

With the scissors, the active partner lies sideways on the bed. The passive partner then sits on him at loin height with his legs spread and wraps his legs around the upper body of the active partner. He supports himself with his hands. The active partner leans forward slightly and propped up on one elbow. Then he wraps his thighs around his opponent’s waist and holds on to his thighs. Then he can gently move up and down.

In this Kama Sutra position for gay couples, the passive partner supports himself with his upper arms on the bed. Only the upper body is on the  mattress . The active partner lifts the legs of his counterpart at loin height and can penetrate him in this way.

At the “candle” the passive man lies on his back. His active partner kneels in front of him and lifts his pelvis. During sex, he gently moves his partner’s butt up and down. The passive partner can rest their feet on their counterpart’s shoulders.
