New quarantine and isolation rules at a glance
The quarantine and isolation rules have been adjusted due to the Omicron variant. Exceptional rules apply to those who have been boosted, those who have been vaccinated and children, young people and employees in the healthcare sector.
Isolation for corona infected people
Instead of quarantine for 14 days, people infected with corona will have to be isolated for ten days in the future. Free testing with a PCR test or rapid antigen test is possible after just seven days.
The exception applies to medical staff. If infected people do not feel any symptoms for two days, they can test themselves after seven days with a negative PCR test.
Quarantine rules for contacts
The following will apply to people who have had contact with people infected with corona:
- The quarantine period is 10 days.
- Free testing is possible after seven days.
- Boosted ones don’t have to be quarantined.
- Doubly vaccinated, vaccinated people who have recovered or people who have just recovered and who have been fully vaccinated or recovered within three months are also exempt from the quarantine obligation.
- The quarantine for medical staff can be ended after seven days with a test.
- Children and young people can take a free test after just five days.
