Not drinking water after eating fruit?
When we were young children, if we ate fruit and then drank water, we could expect to be reminded by adults. Because, according to the opinion at the time, drinking water on fruit causes severe stomach pains.
Fruit and water are easily digestible
As far as this warning from our well-meaning parents, or rather grandparents, is concerned, the Federal Research Center for Nutrition has given the all-clear. This says that the combination of water and fruit is quite easily digestible.
Reason: There used to be all sorts of germs in drinking water. They caused the fruit to ferment in the stomach, which in turn had the well-known consequences of flatulence , stomachache and diarrhea . Nowadays the water quality is so good that there are no bacteria in the water. Fruit and water are therefore a “compatible” pair.
