Novavax: Standing vaccination committee recommends corona vaccine

After the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the Standing Vaccination Committee (STIKO) also recommends Novavax’s protein-based vaccine against SARS-CoV-2.

In contrast to the  mRNA vaccines  , the  Novavax vaccine is based  on a protein-based technology. In general usage, the vaccine is often referred to as a dead vaccine, which is scientifically incorrect, since the corona vaccine does not contain any dead parts of the virus.

Novavax vaccine: how to vaccinate

According to STIKO, the vaccine should be given to people aged 18 and over. The basic immunization consists of two doses, which are administered at least three weeks apart.

However, the vaccine should not be used as a booster vaccination.
