Nutrition à la Slow Food
Slow food versus fast food. Two trends with two completely different motivations and ideas. Slow Food doesn’t simply mean slow eating. There is much more behind the Slow Food Movement. A healthy and conscious movement around nutrition, which is now also very popular in Germany.
Das Slow Food Movement
The idea does not come from Germany, but from Italy. The idea of slow food originally came about as a counter-movement to globalized fast food with the aim of preserving regional foods and local recipes. In 1986, Carlo Petrini founded the Slow Food Movement on the occasion of the opening of a branch of a fast food chain directly on the Spanish Steps in Rome.
Slow Food stands for healthy nutrition and the conscious enjoyment of regional foods . Slow Food underlines the idea of good taste with conscious nutrition.
Advantages of Slow Food
A healthy diet is not only good for the soul and well-being, it also has a positive effect on digestion and the intestines. Hunger and satiety are perceived more consciously.
Quite in contrast to the philosophy of fast food, where eating means quickly satisfying the feeling of hunger and often too many calories are fed into the body. With this form of nutrition, enjoyment as such can subconsciously take a back seat. The extent of eating via fast food on the body and health cannot yet be properly estimated. With the idea of slow food, the focus is on enjoyment and taste .
Food that is produced in a natural and original way is the basis for nutrition according to the Slow Food philosophy. This has further advantages: regional manufacturers and their production methods are supported indirectly. Factory farming and genetic engineering, on the other hand, are avoided.
Organic products combined with regionally typical preparation result in a variety of tastes, which makes conscious enjoyment in the daily diet possible.
Slow Food starts at home
You can make a small but decisive contribution at home on the balcony or in your own garden . Set up your own slow food bed in the garden and plant different vegetables such as:
Tomatoes or various herbs can also be grown in pots on the balcony or windowsill.
Conscious and good quality nutrition is a must, especially for children . Children should learn and be able to tell the difference between peppers and tomatoes from an early age.
When shopping, also pay attention to the quality of the groceries that end up in your shopping basket. Depending on the season, the weekly market offers a variety of regional and seasonal products.
Slow Food in Deutschland
The Slow Food Movement has long since arrived in Germany. This is proven by numerous events and trade fairs. The Slow Food Fair has been taking place in Stuttgart every year since 2007 . Slow Food is now also an integral part of major trade fairs such as the International Green Week Berlin and the “Internorga” trade fair. The Slow Food Association has established itself worldwide with the aim of sustainably preserving the variety of tastes.
