Relaxed eyes and a beautiful eye area

Almost everyone is familiar with strained or tired eyes. We then automatically start rubbing our eyes or squeezing them lightly. This method is exactly right – with a little massage we can look at the world relaxed again.  Many of us spend a large part of our time in the office – with dry air and often a lot of stress. We sit in front of the computer for hours, our gaze fixed on the keyboard and the screen. No wonder that our eyes are often quite strained.

5 tips for relaxed eyes

  • Don’t forget to blink while working on the screen   ! This keeps the  cornea  moist and protects the eyes.
  • Take a short break from time to time when working on the screen   . During the breaks, close your eyes and gently massage the lids with your fingertips. Then open your eyes wide and let them circle first in one direction, then in the other.
  • The so-called palming also has a relaxing effect  : place your shell-  shaped palms over your closed eyes so that no more light enters (do not close your nose) and leave them there for as long as you feel comfortable. Try to imagine the color black – this will increase the effect. Consciously relax not only your eyes, but also your face and shoulders.
  • Let your gaze wander at regular intervals   – the change between near and far vision supports the eye muscles.
  • Watch your diet – lack of certain  vitamins  can lead to red, sore, watery and sore eyes, as well as poor twilight vision. Vitamin A is the essential ingredient for healthy eyes; its precursor, called  beta- carotene , is found in yellow, red, and orange fruits and vegetables. Equally important for the eyes is  vitamin C , which promotes blood circulation and strengthens the vessel walls. This is found in abundance in kiwis, citrus fruits, pepperoni,  sea buckthorn  and  rose hips . Vitamin B2 also counts as an eye vitamin and is particularly found in  milk and  cheese, poultry, liver as well as wheat germ and wheat bran.

Massage of the eye area

The following massage techniques are suitable for purifying the eye area and reducing wrinkles and swelling. They should all be applied with light pressure:

  • To  refresh the eye :  Simply rub your fingers lightly over the eyelids.
  • To  reduce swelling :  apply pressure with your fingertips.
  • For  detoxification  and  the reduction of wrinkles :  First, use your fingertips to make rapid, clockwise tapping movements from the inner eyelid outwards around the eye. Then use the same method counterclockwise.
  • To  relax the eyes :  place your thumbs in the inner corners of your eyes over the eyeball. Apply gentle pressure under the brows from the inside out. Repeat several times.

Dark circles under the eyes and bags under the eyes

The skin around our eyes is thin and quite sensitive. Dark circles under the eyes and swelling or sagging of the skin under the eyelids do not exactly contribute to our mental well-being. Such tear sacs occur in particular as a result of fatigue or excitement, in the days before and during menstruation and during  menopause  , but can also be the result of internal diseases. They are either genetic or due to a sporadic accumulation of lymph that leaves too much fluid in the tissue.

Some people also develop fat deposits under their eyes, which then show through whitish. Detoxifying measures  and  special eye care  products can be tried to reduce the accumulation of fluid  .

4 tips to avoid bags under your eyes

  • Not too flat and best to sleep with the window open. Turn off the heating and  air conditioning  .
  • Drink a lot! Consume at least two liters of water or  herbal tea daily  . This stimulates kidney activity and promotes the breakdown of waste products.
  • Professional lymphatic drainage pampers the face and helps to relax the eye area.
  • Care for the eye area regularly with eye gel or balm.

Protect your eyes!

Remember to protect your eyes. Some skin needs special attention and intensive care. You should also protect your eyes from the sun. With sunglasses and the right eye care, you can make everyone’s eyes look beautiful.
