Sport is murder! Is that correct?

An assertion made time and again by those who don’t like sports to ward off physical activity. And then Churchill’s “No sports” is quoted (Churchill did a lot of sports when he was young), mentions the famous first marathon runner, who collapsed dead in the market square after his run from Marathon to Athens. And there are always reports in the daily press , after which people suddenly died after physical activity.

Low risk

However, according to various studies, the risk of premature death after exercise is extremely low. It is estimated that in a group of 100,000 middle-aged men there are six deaths each year after exercise – with the risk being greatest in the first hour after exercise and being higher for those who are sedentary than those who exercise daily move and exercise.

Benefits of doing sports

On the other hand, exercise reduces cardiovascular deaths from 70 to 40 per 10,000 person-years – that is, 30 in a group of 10,000 people can be saved annually by exercising. Plea for sport in old age

Sport cannot prevent aging. When used correctly, however, it increases performance, cerebral circulation, vitality and resistance to diseases of all kinds. Physical learning does not stop even when you reach 70.

  • Motor skills can still be trained in old age.
  • Movement promotes breathing and blood circulation, the two essential elements of life. This promotes joie de vivre in the most natural way.
  • Note: After a long break from sports, you should avoid sports that require a high degree of body control, strength and speed.
