The 10 Best Anger Killers

It’s normal for us to get angry every now and then. Often it’s just the little things that we get upset about. It’s not always worth getting angry about. Unfortunately, anger and rage are emotions that are difficult to control and that usually just erupt out of us. However, there are things you can do to better control your anger. This is especially important for your health, because if you are constantly angry, you have to reckon with rising blood fat and sugar levels. With a few tips and tricks, however, you can remain more relaxed in the specific situation. We have put together the 10 best trouble killers for you.

1. Take a deep breath

If you’re about to get really upset, the first thing you should do is take a deep breath. It’s a well-known trick, but it really helps. It’s best to use the  4-6-8 method: Inhale  deeply for a count to 4, hold your breath for a count to 6, and exhale for a count to 8. Repeat then at least four more times.

In addition to taking a deep breath, the famous  “count to ten” is also  recommended. Then the anger is usually not over and the problem is not solved either – but you avoid a knee-jerk reaction that you would probably regret later.

2. View from the outside

Even if it is difficult in the specific situation: try to step outside of yourself and look at what has happened from the outside: is the situation really worth the trouble? Couldn’t there be a misunderstanding? Or isn’t there a simple solution to the problem?

By consciously trying to  distance  yourself from yourself and your anger, you can answer such questions much more easily. It often turns out that things are not so bad and not worth the hassle.

3. Don’t focus on anger

Of course, you shouldn’t just swallow your anger like that – but you shouldn’t focus too much on it either. This is how you make yourself aware of the situation again and again and give it more attention than it deserves. If necessary, get upset – but then let it be. Shouting or slamming doors doesn’t help to overcome anger either.

Instead, try to think of anger as a cloud. You sense that he is there, but at the same time you imagine that he is passing you.

4. Call friends

If you’re so upset that you absolutely need to  get rid of it  , call a good friend. Talk the anger out of your soul – you will feel better afterwards.

In addition, friends are well suited to put the situation into perspective: perhaps you reacted a bit oversensitively and the situation wasn’t that bad after all? Either way, you will definitely feel better after talking to someone you trust.

5. Venting

If you’re really angry, you should do something to relieve yourself. Exercise  is usually the best way to get rid of anger and frustration quickly. Because exercise reduces stress hormones and releases happiness hormones.

So take a leisurely stroll around the block during your lunch break or get rid of your frustration with a jog in the evening. Zumba or squash are also   ideal for working out in a short time.

6. Meditate

If you find yourself getting upset, you should  practice meditating  . Ten minutes of training a day is enough to calm down the mind in a matter  of seconds, even if you are very angry  .

The following exercise is recommended for practice:

  • Get into a comfortable position and close your eyes.
  • Be conscious of your breathing. Feel the air flow in and out of your body.
  • Stay focused and try not to let your mind wander.

7. Set a sharp stimulus

No matter how annoyed you are – usually the anger can be masked by another,  stronger stimulus.  We know this phenomenon from other areas of life: For example, the  itching of a mosquito bite can be  temporarily replaced by the pain of scratching.

To cover up the anger, you can, for example, suck on a spicy ginger candy or bite into a chilli. The advantage of the candy: You can always leave a few in your handbag or your desk drawer.

8. Smile

Even if you’ve just been terribly upset – just try to smile. This may sound strange, but it actually helps. Because of the connection between the brain and facial muscles, not only do we smile when we are doing well, but we  also feel better  when we smile.

Laughter also ensures that  stress  is reduced, blood pressure is lowered and the  immune  system is strengthened. A smile is worth it in every respect!

9. Don’t compare yourself

Often you just get annoyed because you compare yourself to others: your colleague at work earns more, your neighbor drives a bigger car and your best friend has a particularly attractive girlfriend. It’s best to stop comparing yourself to others!

It is much more important that you  analyze your own situation honestly:  Are you just annoyed because others seem to be doing better or are you really dissatisfied with your current situation? If so, you should roll up your sleeves and make a change. However, if you only get angry in comparison, you should look at yourself more and be happy with what you have.

10. Think of a mantra

Mantras help to bring our mind into a balanced state and thereby reduce anger faster or not let it arise in the first place. So think of a spell that can calm you down even in extreme situations. If you get upset about something, you can say this saying to yourself over and over again – it calms you down.

Suitable sayings are, for example, “It’s not worth it, it’s not worth it…” or “I’m calm, I’m calm…”. Simply create your own mantra with which you can get rid of any anger again!
