Vaccinated, recovered or tested: This is how the immunity card works
With the help of a digital immunity card, fully vaccinated or recovered people should gain freedom. The federal government is therefore planning a smartphone app that will also record negative test results.
The smartphone app “CovPass” should be available before the summer holidays. Various IT companies led by the US group IBM are responsible for the development.

“CoVPass” should be particularly counterfeit-proof and help those who have recovered, been vaccinated and tested to make it easier to exercise fundamental rights and freedoms, for example when traveling on vacation.
Completely vaccinated people receive a printed QR code after the vaccination and can scan this into the app via smartphone.
The QR code itself, like the yellow vaccination card, is accepted as analogue proof. In addition, after an update, the immunity  card should be able to be used directly in the Corona-Warn-App.
Anyone who was vaccinated in vaccination centers before the summer will receive the proof by post: Doctors’ practices, on the other hand, should be free to decide whether they want to send the codes by post voluntarily or whether interested patients* have to pick them up on site.
In the future, pharmacies with sufficient technical structures are also to be integrated into the system.

As with boarding passes or train tickets, immunity cards can also be stored for several people. This makes it easier for parents to handle things for the family, for example.
The app requires a name and date of birth, which are compared with a valid photo ID. Whether a vaccination, cure or test result is the reason for immunity is not indicated.
During verification, both the code and personal data are checked. When fully immunized, a green signal should light up. If the negative test result has expired or the person has lost their status as recovered, the signal flashes red.
The immunity card should work on these smartphones
Apple users can use the digital immunity card from the iPhone 5s. At least the iOS12 operating system must be installed on the iPhone.
The application is available for Android smartphones from the sixth version (“Marshmallow”). This includes all smartphones that have been on the market since autumn 2015.
The digital immunity card is not mandatory, but should enable faster and easier checks.
